Occupant Kinematics - SUV Crash

A woman front-seat passenger was sleeping with the seat fully reclined suffered paraplegia when the driver fell asleep and crashed through a guardrail.  The resulting litigation questioned seat belt use and the mechanism of injury.  Mr. Vangura provided a forensic biomechanics expert investigation which determined the woman was not wearing her available 3-point seat belt and her paraplegia resulted from initial crash forces.

Playground Injury

A 7 year old girl was playing on a climber at a public playground when she fell fracturing her elbow.  Upon inspection of the protective surfacing below the climber, it was determined that the loose-fill material was inadequate and was a proximate cause of the girl's injury. After presentation of the forensic playground safety expert witness investigation, the case settled on behalf of the girl.

Diving Board Fall

A 7 year old girl was found at the bottom of a 3 meter diving stand after an unwitnessed fall to the concrete walkway below.  The girl received a skull fracture and a severe forearm fracture.  A near fatal subdural haematoma resulted the following day.  It was believed that the girl slipped while climbing the diving stand ladder and a biomechanical analysis was initiated.  Based upon the girl's physical characteristics, her injuries and the condition of the diving stand, Mr. Vangura determined the girl had fallen from a height near the 8th ladder rung.  This rung was bent, broken and covered with duct tape.  After presentation of the forensic biomechanics expert witness investigation, the case settled on behalf of the girl.

Wheelchair Injury

A woman claimed she was thrown from a wheelchair lift when it racked during disembarking causing her to fall to the ground fracturing her hip.  The van attendant disagreed stating the woman failed to listen to his instructions and exited the wheelchair lift before the lowering cycle had completed.  The attendant stated she was hurrying to get into her house and tripped on the lift gate when stepping off the lift.  Forensic biomechanical expert analysis determined the attendant operated the lift appropriately and that the lift could not rack throwing the patient from the lift.  Additionally, the woman's injuries were consistent with tripping while walking.  Upon presentation as a biomechanics expert during trial, a defense verdict was returned.

Pedestrian School Bus Runover

While attending a concert in a park, a 22 y.o. woman was attempting to ride a school bus that would transport her to the parking area.  While waiting to embark, the bus abruptly moved knocking her to the ground and eventually rolling over her pelvis with the back right wheels causing massive pelvic injuries including significant fractures and skin degloving.  A review by biomechanics expert, Al Vangura Jr. MS, CPSI revealed the cause of the fall and the mechanism of injury of the pelvic and skin injuries

I reviewed Mr. Vangura's report and was present during his inspection. I was extremely impressed with the manner in which he performed the investigation into the subject accident.  Mr. Vangura's report covered every detail extremely accurately and he thoroughly responded to all of the issues involved in this case.  I have not used his services in the past [slip trip fall expert], however seeing the work effort and product that was produced, I would certainly use him again and recommend you to my colleagues in the event they are needed.
